Hundru Falls plunges 320 feet down a sheer rock face on the Subarnarekha river — one of the highest waterfalls in India and the single most popular day-trip from Ranchi. The descent of 740-odd steps to the base is steep but the view from below is worth every knee creak.
How to reach Hundru Falls from Ranchi
By cab from Ranchi, take Ranchi-Purulia Road (NH-23) east, then turn off at Sikidiri towards the falls. Roads are paved and well signposted. No public bus at the falls itself — taxi is the only practical option.
